| | Model | Mitsubishi Galant | | | What things have gone wrong with the car? | Unexpected trips to the repair shop, and then delays to get parts from the factory (in JAPAN!). Brakes wear out quicker than I'd expect. | | | | |
| | | General comments? | I bought my '96 almost 3 years ago with 25,000. Mileage is now just over 80,000. I had a throwout bearing break after 55,000. The $30 part took out the back half of the tranny. Total cost: $1,700. Even the dealer said that doesn't usually happen. Lower ball joint has a recall in effect for '94-'97. HAVE IT CHECKED OUT! Mine failed in my driveway. I was lucky. I've had to replace the front brakes once a year. Car drinks a quart of oil every 1000 miles. Overall, the car has held up rather nicely. I'm still a bit nervous about the car, and what's the next unexpected trip to the shop will be for. The Galant is good for a family man | | | Previous car | 97 Accord: My brother-in-laws car. Galant styling has definite edge, but Accord's proven reliability record is a huge plus. |
